Tiger’s Pulling Powers Decline Down Under
Nov 2nd
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, (via GolfDigest), tickets sales are down at this years Australian Masters, due to a lack of Tiger appeal.
David Rollo, VP director of golf at IMG Australia, said that it may be down to the fact that last year was Tigers first appearance in 11 years, rather than a response by golf fans to Tigers off game controversies. For the full story, check out the GolfDigest. What do you think?

Tiger Woods complains about greens after woeful first round at the US Open.
Jun 18th
After an amature putting exhibition, Tiger Woods, who scored a 74 three over par, had only one thing to say about the putting surface, ‘Awful’.
Tiger, who is know for his putting prowesqe, struggled with reading the infamously firm greens. He was quoted as saying, ”There’s no one making a lot of putts out there. No one is going low. You just can’t. [At least] the afternoon guys can’t. The morning guys have a chance. I’ve played, as I said, my practice rounds in the morning and the greens are smoother, but they’re still very firm.”
Woods’ disgust was easily explained – he played better from tee to green than he has done since his return from his self-induced hiatus only to fritter away his chances. His haste in blaming the elements was inexplicable, not least because the three co-leaders at the close of play had all, like Woods, teed off in the afternoon.
Phil Mikelson, who is favorite to take the title actually finished one shot worse than Woods, who scored the same as one of the other favorites Ian Poulter. The scores are very tight near the top so whatever happens, it should be a very exciting year for the US Open.

Rhys Davies and his caddie prepare for Pebble Beach
Jun 17th
Rhys Davies is planning the ultimate Boston tee party if American caddie Mark Maso can help him bag the US Open crown this week.
While Davies will be sailing uncharted waters at Pebble Beach, Maso, is something of a veteran having caddied for Garrett Willis, on the PGA Tour there. Maso hails from the Massachusetts, the city that gave us baked beans, Havard University, plus hit TV shows Cheers and Ally McBeal, and has been a rock for Davies on Monterey Bay this week as the 25-year-old attempts to get to grips with one of the world’s most iconic golf courses, Pebble Beach. Long roughs, lightning quick small greens and potential coastal winds would test even the most hardened of professionals, let alone a European Tour rookie just in his third year in the paid ranks.
We wish Rhys and his cMaso the best of luck as he will have to play out of his skin if he is to be crowned champion with the likes of Lee Westwood, Phil Mikelson and the prolific Tiger Woods, teeing up in the same competition.
Tiger Woods to play British Open at St. Andrews, July 15th-18th 2010
May 18th
Tiger Woods has officially entered the British Open, scheduled at St. Andrews golf course in Scotland from July 15th to 18th 2010. According to TigerWoods.com – the recent MRI scans that forced him to withdraw from The Players Championship on May 9th 2010, should be in control by the time Tiger lands on UK shores. This will certainly re-energize the UK golf tour schedule this year and see Tiger on a familiar course where he has achieved a massive three wins to date.

The punishment for heckling in golf… a good tasering.
May 10th
Police handcuff and haul away a golf fan zapped with a Taser for heckling Tiger Woods at a tournament.
The 50,00-volt stun gun was used on Travis Parmelee, 36, after he yelled abuse at the star, who has been shamed by revelations about a string of extra-marital affairs.
Parmelee, said to have been drinking heavily, was charged with “disorderly intoxication ” and resisting arrest.
Police chief Dave Messenger said: “Our goal is to escort people off the property but it was clear he wasn’t going to stop. Most people want to watch golf but others come to drink.”
The incident was at the 11th hole in Sawgrass, Florida, during the second round of the Players Championship.
A tournament spokesman said: “Our position is and has always been that anything that disrupts the competition or the enjoyment of our fans will be dealt with accordingly, as was the case here.”

Mickelson starts well at the Players Championship.
May 7th
Phil Mickelson started well at the Players Championship at Sawgrass, shooting a 70. Knowing if he finishes first and Tiger outside the top five, he will finally realize his lifelong ambition of being the world’s number 1. His score Helped by a Birdie at the last was however, overshadowed by the early pace-setter JB Holmes, who shot out of the traps with a dazzling 66.
If Mickelson want to sit at the top of the world rankings, he will have to bring his best game as defending champion and current holder Henrick Stenson eagled the par-five ninth as he produced a fine 69 and said:
”I’ve been struggling with my game but I love this course – there’s just something about it that gets me going.”
Tiger also started well matching Mickelson’s 70 as they both start their four day battle to decide, who is number 1.
